Possible measures for saving food
- Cooking, transform leftovers
- I have eaten leftovers and drinks at a later date (reheated), turned them into new meals or used them in new recipes or in well-known (such as freeze, prepare jam), sometimes forgotten (e.g. ferment) preservation methods.
- Food storage
- I have used my knew knowledge about the optimal storage of different foods e.g. what should be stored in the fridge so that it lasts longer.
- Food planning
- I started planning meal ideas, checking my stock before shopping and making shopping lists, avoiding impulse buys, avoid buying of special offers like “buy 3, pay 2”, buy smaller units and not more than I need.
- Eat or process food before it spoils
- When checking my supplies, I discovered and ate/processed food that was close to its best-before date or other food that should be processed quickly.
- Cooking, changed portion size
- I have adjusted the portion sizes so that there is less left over.
- Food donation
- I have taken food that is not eaten at home or is too much into work, given it away to neighbors or passed it on in other ways
