CO2-Tool (aka Carbon Footprint Tool)

Your handling of food and clothing habits have a direct impact on the climate.
But don’t worry – you can actively make a difference!

This CO2 tool shows you the improvements you achieve – even through small changes – in your everyday habits around food, clothing and laundry.

Track your impact with our Carbon Footprint Tool – see how saving food, making more mindful clothing choices and washing laundry more efficiently can significantly reduce your CO₂ emissions. Every small action counts.
Just choose the area from the top or left menus and start calculating your savings.

Join us – for a more sustainable future!

Use the tool to instantly access information about the environmental impact of your choices. Once you’re logged in, your savings are recorded and you can easily track your achievements over time.
Note: currently the login option is provided exclusively for households participating in the pilot actions. Once the project is finished, the full functionality of the tool will be made available to the general public.

New here?

The CARE CO2 Tool is a digital platform designed to help you track and reduce your carbon footprint in three key areas: food, clothing and laundry habit.

The tool calculates the CO2 emissions saved based on your actions, such as reducing food waste, making sustainable clothing choices, and washing laundry more efficiently.

Start paying attention to your daily habits. By comparing it to the way you have acted before, notice when your actions help

  • save food from going into waste,
  • avoid buying new clothes or throwing away old ones,
  • change washing habits

If you notice these savings, choose the right category and record your actions.

Why is the carbon footprint of food waste, clothing & washing important?

Each of these areas contributes significantly to climate impact, whether through the production and transportation of food (even more if it is wasted), the manufacturing of clothing or the energy used in washing and drying.

By understanding the carbon footprint in these areas, we can make more sustainable choices— by no longer throwing away food, thinking carefully about whether we buy new clothes and how we wash laundry to reduce energy consumption.

Every small change can help reduce our overall environmental impact and move us closer to a more sustainable future.

What does carbon footprint mean?

The carbon footprint is a measure of the amount of greenhouse gases released by human activities.
It includes our daily actions and considers various areas such as energy use, transport or waste.

Emissions, primarily CO2 but also others such as methane and nitrous oxide, resulting from those activities contribute to climate change and are summarized as carbon footprint, usually expressed in CO2 equivalents (CO2e).
